Google announces Nexus 7 Tablet

Today at Google I/O 2012, the company announced Nexus 7, the 7-inch-screen tablet will feature Google’s latest version of the Android operating system, called Jelly Bean, a 1,280-by-800 pixel high-definition screen, a front-facing camera and comes with Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth and NFC.

The tablet weighs 340 grams and has a battery life of nine hours of video playback. It will also be the first Android device to come with Google Chrome as its default Internet browser.

Nexus 7 is "built for Google Play," said Hugo Barra, product management director for Android at Google.

Microsoft unveils Surface Tablet


Last Monday at an event in Hollywood Microsoft has unveiled Surface, the device will feature Windows 8 system, Intel or ARM-based processor, 10.6 inch (26.9cm) displays, built-in kickstands and are housed in magnesium cases. 

The company's chief executive, Steve Ballmer, said he had wanted to give the software "its own companion hardware".

The Intel's x86 tablets run Windows 8 Pro and are 13.5mm (0.5 inches) thick. These can run Metro and an updated version of the "classic" desktop which allow these devices to use software designed for previous editions of Windows, although some programs will need to be updated to be compatible.

The versions using ARM-based processor are 9.3mm (0.4 inches) thick and run the Windows RT version of the new system. Third-party developers have to rewrite programs from scratch to run on the system's Metro interface to work on these devices.

Apple launches new Macbook Pro

Apple has launched last Monday the new 15 inch MacBook Pro at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco, the device features a hybrid design between the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air with a thickness of 18 mm and a weight of 2.02 kg. It arrives sporting a Retina Display which first debuted on mobile devices with IOS (iPhone and iPad).

The MacBook Pro comes with Intel Core i7 quad-core processors up to 2.7 GHz with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.7 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M discrete graphics, up to 16GB of faster 1600 MHz RAM and flash storage up to 768GB. Other features include two Thunderbolt and two USB 3.0 port, HDMI port, FaceTime HD camera, glass Multi-Touch trackpad, backlit keyboard, dual microphones, and 3-stream 802.11n Wi-Fi. The battery provides up to 7 hours of wireless use.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said, "The next generation Macbook Pro is the most beautiful computer we've ever made. There's never been a notebook that is this gorgeous."
